Save money with your agent

How to save money on home repairs with an AI agent

Your agent finds the contractor's quote in your email, then Tuvoz calls 3 local licensed pros for a price on the same job, so you have bids to compare before you hire.

What you could save

  • Getting three bids for a plumbing install job saved about $300 on average, compared with getting one quote.

How to do it with your agent

  1. Step 1

Let your agent read your email

Connect Gmail, or the inbox you use, to your agent so it can find the quote or estimate the contractor sent: the job, the materials, the price and any warranty.

    • claude.ai: connect Gmail under Customize > Connectors. Anthropic's help
    • Claude Code: uses the connectors you added on claude.ai when you sign in with your Claude account, so connect Gmail there first. Claude Code docs
    • ChatGPT and Codex: add the Gmail plugin under Settings > Plugins. Codex uses the same plugins, except in the IDE extension. OpenAI's help
    • Meta Muse: go to Settings > Connectors, or ask it to connect your Gmail. You choose whether it can only read your mail. Meta's help
    • OpenClaw: use the bundled gog skill, which needs your own Google OAuth setup. the skill's docs

No email access? Paste it or forward it into the chat instead.

Tuvoz never sees your inbox. It gets only the brief your agent writes, which you see before any call.

  2. Step 2

    Set up Tuvoz

Paste this into your agent. Skip this step if it already has Tuvoz.

  3. Step 3

    Run this prompt

Paste it into the same chat. Change anything first, like how many places to call.

Find the most recent contractor quote in my email for the repair I need. Then use Tuvoz to call 3 well-reviewed, licensed pros near me, at their local business numbers, and ask what they'd charge for the same job. Share only my ZIP code and the work described in the quote. Ask for a price or a range, whether they need to see it first, if they're licensed and insured, the warranty, and their earliest opening. Don't book a visit, hire anyone or agree to a deposit; ask me first. Don't share my card numbers or bank details. Show me the plan before you call, then put the answers side by side with the quote I have.

The FTC says to get multiple estimates before you hire. Most people stop at one because each extra quote means more phone calls. With the first quote in your inbox, your agent knows the job, Tuvoz makes the calls, and you get the bids side by side.

Who Tuvoz calls

Well-reviewed, licensed plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, roofers or handymen near you, at the business numbers on their listings. Tuvoz doesn’t call toll-free lines or mobile numbers.

What the contractor hears

Every call opens the same way:

“Hi! I’m Jane Doe’s AI assistant, calling through Tuvoz about a repair quote.”

Then it asks whether it may record the call. If they say yes, it describes the job from your quote and asks for a price or a range, whether they need to see it, their license and insurance, the warranty and their earliest opening. If they ask something the brief doesn’t settle, like the age of your water heater, the voice agent asks your agent mid-call, and Tuvoz calls you if your agent can’t answer. More on this in how the mid-call backchannel works.

What comes back

A short table: each contractor, their price or range, whether it’s firm or needs a visit, licensed and insured or not, the warranty, and the earliest date, with the quote you already have in the last row.

What it won’t do

  • Book a visit, hire anyone or agree to a deposit without asking you first.
  • Share card numbers or bank details.
  • Call toll-free numbers or someone’s mobile.

What it costs

Three calls of about 3 minutes each is 9 minutes, or $1.08 (540 seconds × $0.002). Tuvoz charges $0.12 a minute, billed per second with a 30-second minimum per answered call leg, including calls to your own phone. Calls nobody answers cost nothing. A new account starts with 15 minutes of free talk time.

FAQ

Will a contractor give a price without seeing the job?
For a clearly described job, many will give a range, and most will want to see it before a firm price. The summary says which answers are ranges, and your agent can line up visits with the ones you pick.
Should I just take the lowest price?
The FTC says not to choose the lowest bidder automatically, to consider only licensed and insured contractors, and not to pay the full amount up front. The prompt asks about licensing, insurance and warranty for that reason.
Why do some contractors get skipped?
Tuvoz calls listed business numbers. Many small contractors list only a cell phone, and Tuvoz doesn't call mobile numbers, so your agent picks pros with a business line.
How many pros can it call?
A free account can call 3 new numbers a day, one call at a time. A paid account can call 10 new numbers a day, up to 3 at once.
